I've decided it's time to completely organize and decorate my home office/craft room. Although it's been cleaned before, I feel like every few months it starts to look like a room from the TV show Hoarders. I blame this on my lack of organizational tools in the office. Things like shelves, baskets and... a filing cabinet. With so many ideas and goals for my etsy shop, I knew I needed to buckle down and get serious with that space.
So I decided to start with a filing cabinet. But I couldn't find any that didn't feel flimsy (and they were all around $200). My mom suggested buying a used one and $40 later, I brought this monstrosity home:
It was from the US Agricultural Department, exceptionally heavy and well made, but clearly it needed work:
So I enlisted the help of my dad:
Who then put me to work:
And my mom helped too:
And after a lot of sanding, we discovered that the handles were made out of brass!
My dad got busy spray painting...
And that's how I got this new piece of furniture in my office!
And I'm on my way to a clutter free room!

Good Eats
Keeping this organization momentum going...
Yesterday, I organized the pantry. This was very needed AND just in time for the Supper Club on Thursday night. Since we host it at our house and there's always a little bit of chaos while getting everything on the table, it'll be nice to have everything in it's place.

And after:

I love the "oxo-pops" that you'll see in both photos-- we use them for EVERYTHING!

Real Simple
Today I organized my closet.
It's been about a year since we moved into our little home on Community. Which means it's been about a year since I first organized my closet. So this was due.
Here are some photos mid-process (to be fair, it got worse before it got better):

A trip to Bed, Bath and Beyond gave me everything I needed:
100 Real Simple Hangers (and their clips for skirts/pants),
2 Real Simple Accessory Hangers
16 Wonder Hangers
Here's the result:

I don't usually buy things "as seen on TV", but the Wonder Hangers are great! Truly did give me more space.
And I'm extremely happy with the Real Simple hangers and accessories. Getting rid of all the mismatched hangers (especially the wire ones from the dry cleaners) felt so nice!
Next up on the Hill organizing machine... the pantry!
